Happy Lunar New Year to all! I’ve been lagging behind in the latests Gem of Life episodes a little in view of the festivities (and laziness). Here’s a little summary of Episode 66 and Episode 67, I’ll do the rest later when I’ve fully digested all the food I’ve stuffed down my throat. And when my Internet connection won’t be such a choppy b*tch.
Highlight of the day:
So…if you’re familiar with similar blabberings I’ve done before, there’s more behind the cut.
After that unhappy battle with Terrence over Jessica, Martin now has a new boy toy in the form of Ringo. Here they’re having a bit of a happy moment before the maid interrupts. Oh well, nothing else is new with Martin, except he’s still very suspicious of Jessica. He has practically everyone on her tail, including Ringo.
Well, Martin actually lashed out and hit Jessica. I was pretty shocked at that, especially since it’s almost a 180-degree turn from his original character. I know the kidnapping incident did cause him a lot of trauma, but I always believed that Martin was a gentleman at heart, and they never really showed his jealousy before. But maybe before, he was a smart and successful businessman, he knew no one could ever measure up to him, so he didn’t have to worry. Now he just looks in the mirror and sees a timid man with agoraphobia and it’s just sad. For him. And Jessica too.
Hmm, or was it Terrence who planted Ringo near his Daddy, so that he can get Jessica all to himself?
Lol fiction aside, Terrence does get a scene or two in Episode 67, trying to set up Ringo. He’s suspecting that Ringo is a mole, so he set up a trap for Ringo. Although Ringo does take the bait, Terrence does not find out (not yet anyway) that it’s Phillip behind it all, but rather believing that puny Will has the capability to try to take down Martin and himself. That’s Terrence for you, never looking past the smoke screen.
Meanwhile, Episodes 66 and 67 showed loads of Sylvia-Calvin-Catherine action.
Catherine was blackmailed by who else? Jessica with the secret of Sylvia’s miscarriage, so Catherine caves and does Jessica’s bidding, only to have Calvin furious with her.
Calvin didn’t seem too willing, haha. Eventually, he does find out about the miscarriage, from Catherine herself. Because that silly girl isn’t cunning enough to keep it from Calvin. Gawwwwd. If it were Jessica she’d never let it slip from her own mouth. Which left Calvin even more furious, and despite all attempts by Catherine to win him back,
Calvin dumps her like a hotcake after realising the truth, and he somehow also realises that Sunny and Sylvia’s marriage was a hoax. I dunno how he actually came to that conclusion though. I know he’s smart…but to suspect Sylvia and Sunny’s marriage was kind of speculative.
Oh wait, what about Sylvia?
Poor Sylvia. It was just so painful to watch her in that scene, because she looked so sad that I practically wilted. Jessica broke her trust, after Sylvia worked her arse off for that bratty little sister for two years, stood by her side when everyone thought she was too heartless, almost got run over by Crazy Woman for Jessica’s son, lied to her husband to protect her, and jeopardised her own relationship with Constance.
Ah…denial denial. Constance seems pretty clueless as to the drama with Martin and Jessica, and she unknowingly became stuck between the fiery confrontation between the couple. Sylvia asks her to do her a favour and stay out of it, but Constance tries to be all self-righteous again. *rolls eyes* Plus, she does seem completely oblivious to Mummy’s apparent medical condition. I mean, even Ying Jie and Daddy realise it, and she’s supposedly helping out with the business and also staying with them, you’d think she knows better. Plus, Mummy’s condition started waaaay back. Remember how Mummy made that mistake with some order which led to Jessica fighting with Constance in the hospital, where the Crazy Woman appeared and took Sun Sun momentarily? Yeah..that was when it started.
The problem with Mummy is that she’s such a stubborn, arrogant person that she refuses to believe that she could be wrong in the first place. That’s why she can’t accept the fact that she is losing her mind, despite so many obvious signs within the two episodes – her forgetting her own address and forgetting that she drove Ying Jie away being the major ones. And silly Daddy just stupidly begs her to go to the doctor instead of exerting some force or doing something more concrete.
When she walks into Ying Jie’s empty room, thinking that she still stayed there. Awwww. Poor Mummy. At least she’ll be blissfully ignorant now.
Next: More drama with Calvin and Sylvia!
